PortShuttle as organisor in the Port of Rotterdam
Since the startup in 2015 our aim is to improve the productivity and efficiency of rail transport in the port of Rotterdam. Over the years our ambition grew. We developed PortShuttle into the organisor of reliable and cost-effective solutions for the exchange of containers in Rotterdam in combination with efficient rail transport. We now connect all deepsea containerterminals terminals located on the Maasvlakte as well as the City Terminals continuously. It started with one single train back in 2015 but are really proud to share that we are now operating several trains. Day in day out we make sure containers reach their destination in the port on time to make their journey to the final destination.

How do we work?
Each week the port of Rotterdam is the start and end point for more than 250 intermodal rail connections. Transport by rail from and to Rotterdam is fast and reliable. Therefor it offers excellent options for transporting large quantities of containers.
We cooperate with long haul rail operators. By using empty spaces on their trains we create a vast network of exchange possibilities in our port. We call this our Virtual PortShuttle Concept. In this way we not only make sure we can offer our customers the best exchange solution but we also optimize utilization of train capacity and terminal slots.
Our Virtual PortShuttle Concept goes even further than creating an exchange network in our port. For the rail operators in our virtual concept we provide management of their trains during their stay in the port of Rotterdam. Together we can find the optimal way of handling trains in the port of Rotterdam.
On a daily basis we transport containers between all terminals in Rotterdam and manage various trains in our virtual concept. Are you interested in more information concerning our services? Please contact our operations team. They are happy to tell you more!
Our ambition
In the end we work hard to create an even more efficient handling of containers which are transported through the port of Rotterdam for all parties involved. We do so by optimizing the use of capacity on trains and terminals. Last but not least we strive to provide a neutral and cost effective solution for the exchange of containers in Rotterdam.
